In a Nutshell

Schools of Art and Design are increasingly professionalizing their management and leadership with the aim of delivering a better experience to their students and faculty. As nurseries of creative human capital for the new creative economy their role is more important than ever before. Artists are no longer just the conscience and soul of their societies, they are increasingly the entrepreneurs that drive change and create economic value.

This makes the leadership of schools of art and design very exciting, as society re-values art and design, yet it also creates challenges as societal expectations, and those of students and faculty, continue to rise. Guiding an institution and seizing upon these opportunities in the coming years is both a privilege and a burden for academic leaders in art and design.

With these developments in mind, the organizing committee has identified four conference tracks:

  1. Reinventing Art & Design Education
  2. Art & Design as Fundamentals of the Creative Economy
  3. Purpose & Impact: Art in Contemporary Human Society
  4. Measuring Passion: Metrics for Excellence in Art & Design Education

The successful management of the above-mentioned areas is the key to a school’s long-term success, including its performance in the QS World Rankings by Subject.

By bringing together senior leaders from art and design schools and other important thought leaders around these themes, the Summit provides a platform for the sharing of new ideas and best practices, as well as a unique opportunity for networking and dialogue. The aim of the Summit is to foster a shared understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing art and design education and to begin articulating a practical vision for moving medical schools forward.

Organised in collaboration with Silpakorn University, and held in Bangkok, Thailand, the Summit is also the perfect venue to expand and strengthen your personal and institutional network with other schools, artists and designers from Thailand, Asia and beyond.
